The only correct thing you said is the annoying side characters (FL's mom and sis). How is FL spineless? She raised her sister's son as her own ALONE. She didn't give into her mother when the mom was asking for money. She takes care of the kids.
How is ML a low-key jerk? He never did anything to make FL uncomfortable. Sure, he cannot express his feelings fully (like towards his nephew), but he cares for them a lot.
