Even in this chapter he's still talking as if he's right
exactly! he is so angry at himself and feels so incredibly guilty, that he keeps refusing to see his mistakes. i’m not saying og mc was faultless, he was a grown man who got stuck in a fuck buddies relationship with the person he loved and wasn’t strong enough to break it, but he definitely was NOT the person to blame for this situation. like yeah the whole “i’m gonna act like i’m gonna kill myself so maybe he’ll care for me” thing is terrible, but that didn’t even end up necessarily working for him, geonpil still didn’t give a fuck. it wasn’t until he actually paid attention to the ghost and realized all the things mc had been doing for him, that he understood the way he acted towards him was awful (and yet, his defense mechanism is blaming others instead of himself to get rid of his guilt). i do not think any of the characters in this story are entirely good or entirely bad. geonpil can’t deal with the fact that he never realized what he had in front of him until that person was already gone. as the shaman said, he does need to pay for leading on his friend AND the ghost as well, he should’ve gotten rid of him from the moment he realized what he was, but he gave the ghost warmth, he gave him hope. same thing he did to the original mc.

people aren’f angry at geonpil for not reciprocating og mc’s feelings, it’s the leading on. he knew how og mc felt for him, and decided to ignore it and keep having sex with him. he took for granted all the shit og mc did for him and didn’t even have the decency to at least treat him like a friend when mc clearly had no one. he kept blurring the lines between them and og mc, who was already weak minded and hopelessly in love with him, took everything. this is geonpil’s karma. it’s not crazy to find him unlikeable, i think the author did a great job at making him an extremely realistic character.
