Someone fan translated the chapters in Indonesian and uploaded it to Bato (RIP). I couldn't understand, but I skimmed it, so I kinda figured the Elder Priest was involved in something shady--though I hadn't expected this. The whole "lower born" storyline feels kinda random and pushed through quickly, and this story has a habit of not expanding fully on a lot of neat ideas/worldbuilding. That said, the Elder Priest isn't a monster, since he spared Kang Heon and had his own life threatened. That said, I don't get why the priest would reveal this to Kang Heon and push him towards revenge...when he himself was part of it. And mentioning the Elder Priest's role isn't a smoking gun, since the emperor is behind it all. And I'm confused on why followers were killed; wasn't killing the emperor the whole goal? Wouldn't killing followers be suspicious?
