Im with you here and thank you. You saved me from wasting my time on this. I cannot do this incest/pseudo incest stuff. Whether related by blood or not, if someone raised the child, they are the parent. I just can't get behind a child falling and listing after a grown adult and a whole ass parent at that. I despise how normalised it is.
It makes me so angry to be accused of complaining and not being able to separate reality from fiction when it’s my opinion, and I have good reason. People need to start thinking critically again.
I thought eventually the son would give up, and find someone else, and we’d get to see him start a new, less toxic relationship. However when I started reading it, I didn’t realise quite how many BL had incest in them. I hate this whole “who can tell reality from fiction” discourse. I know it’s fucking fiction, but I don’t want to read stuff that makes me feel uncomfortable. People expressing their opinions about something aren’t “dumb bitches complaining”.
I personally think the problem is that when fiction normalises something to the extent that manga normalises rape or incest, that’s when there’s an issue. It shouldn’t be normal to read rape and incest and not feel some discomfort EVEN WHEN ITS FICTION. You should be able to read something that you know has unhealthy dynamics and enjoy elements of it, but also discuss how it makes you feel uncomfortable. Manga isn’t just fap material.
I could almost understand some people’s point of view”if you don’t like it don’t read it” for a one volume manga with little story, but this is three volumes and has a fucking plot. Is it really too much to ask that maybe this pseudo son/father relationship wouldn’t turn into actual sex? I don’t think so personally. It’s not a one shot. It could have been nuanced.
