"Teacher, why aren't you here?" I'M SOBBING. Yes, he hates the teacher, but at the same time, he desperately yearns for his recognition. He wants his approval so badly, and it kills him that no matter what he does, he will never be enough. That genuinely pains me.

And the fact that he is truly alone makes me want to cry. He thought he could find his equal in Garam, someone who shared his hatred, someone who understood his passion for music, but he only managed to scare him away. He's such a lonely soul, and that hurts so much.

He wants perfection and demands it from everyone around him. He sees the orchestra members as his sheep and himself as their shepherd; he doesn't see them as equals (unlike how he sees Garam). He sees them as tools to bring his vision of music to life, all in pursuit of the approval of another man. He can't escape the professor's influence over his music, but honestly, I don't think he wants to.

I really want him to find someone who can be his equal, his comrade, like Walter. Someone he can truly connect with. But we know he's far too closed off for that, and somehow, that makes his loneliness hurt even more.
