I understand this viewpoint. I also believe however, that she can forgive Marie simply because that's also her baby. Even if she made up a horrible lie, she was extremely young, and also dealing with the loss of her younger sibling & the breaking down of her parents. Simply put -- she would rather forgive her baby girl for her childhood mistake made in grief, than lose another child
