Alpha has major childhood trauma. A large part of it involves betas and when his childhood friend (who is a beta) confesses to him he accepts partially because he knew that if he didn't that would probably be the end of their friendship and he still wanted to stay with his friend. Almost a decade later they are going through the motions of a relationship and a series of events happen and they end up sleeping together. But the alpha doesn't realise the person he slept with is his friend. His friend in the meantime, without either of their knowledge has been slowly transforming into an omega. Them sleeping together coincides with the maturation of his new reproductive organs and he ends up getting pregnant. Before either of them know this, they end up breaking up and are now in a chasing arc. Since the omega is trying to get away from both the pain of the relationship as well as hide the fact that he's now an omega and pregnant, and the alpha is trying to get him back because he still wants him in his life.
