They do communicate in their own way. We could say there is no major misunderstanding going around, which is a huge thing reading similar stories lol. They tried to define the relationship, check the other's likes and intentions regarding the relationships. They just have really different mindsets and character, and I believe they don't fully grasp waht they want - so they have trouble to embrace and verbalize it. But they're getting there.
Almost all bl characters lack communication skills BUT this one makes it so more obvious!
