ok. contrary to other comments nothing was really worth crying for me, and because of them i was expecting a much worse, sadder outcome. but what’s left for me after reading this is just .. a jumbled mess.
i’m both confused and in awe. what’s true and what isnt? the line between film and reality was blurred, i was second guessing the narrative the whole time, not knowing what to expect after each panel.
i’m in awe of the artistry. the use of panels and medium (both manga irl, and phone filming as the perspective to story telling) is GENIUS. the details and paneling, stills to show a pause or the passage of time. fujimoto is skilleddddd i don’t know how else to say it. i was immersed but also not because like i said i really was doubting what to believe in here.
like rn even as it’s finished i don’t know how to process and make sense of what i just read. MC’s abuse(?), how he processed his mom’s death, then dealing with eri’s situation also having to go through all of that again. the mockery of his movie. showing it again at the festival. the time skip and the death of everyone in his family. was that even real? what the hell man i dont know what to beleive in.
AND THATS WHAT MAKES THIS SO GOOOOOODDDDD i need to read more of this guy’s works outside of chainsawman. i’m impressed
