I've read the novel like long ago so I don't really remember much (so I could be wrong in some parts) neither I'm good at explaining but I'm gonna leave this here
As we know from the first chapter MC was getting bullied, so his mother payed the ML to keep an eye on him, make MC open up to him and then he would eventually report back to MC's mother. AND MC has a friend named Danny, Danny was also paid by MC's mother to be his friend, MC found out, bro was devastated but eventually forgave and became friends again
So basically I think his mother found out those two were in a relationship, she called MC and told him about the past (how she paid ML etc) and MC stopped trusting him and assumed that the ML is still getting paid by the mother and that he was being fake this whole time, mc also got mad how ML never told him anything about himself (aka his past crush etc) so ye basically there will be a misunderstanding just not for that reason, they will make up though, won't take that long ^^ my english is bad and I'm pretty bad at explaining so I hope you understood, i also must've missed alot of parts and could've remembered wrong as well, so I recommend you read the novel or ask someone else for a better explanation, pls no hate T_T
