Bro I literally didn’t know what he did to cause specifically his younger brother to hate him and now that I know I get it, and yet reading this makes me really wonder wtf his parents were doing since they clearly had enough money to hire someone to diagnose him and teach him how to read facial expressions but didn’t have enough money to pay someone to teach basic morality rules? Like he doesn’t have to understand them but clearly you enforced punishments (abuse) as something he thinks is not only normal but follows the ‘rules’ of but you couldn’t do that with other stuff??? Like clearly there was a chance here and they opted to just…not take it??? And then he ended up abusing his younger siblings and traumatizing them and he literally can’t feel remorse cause not only is he a psychopath by medical definition but he was literally never taught what he did was wrong??? HE HAS A FUCKING CONDITION and they thought to teach him VIOLENCE AND FORCE as the answer??? Like he might not have ended up doing half the shit he has done even if he wouldn’t have learned emotions like JEHELEKENRKTINRNRJTJKRNRNTNTNRKNNEJSIDNNFODKRNEKOE

Well, tbf. They did hire doctors to find cure on why he lacks emotion but that part of Grayson's brain was damage due to him manifesting when he was a baby. Ashley did everything he could for his kids but in the end teaching him emotions was the only way he can do. And well, he also spoils his kids a lot.

I am slowly reading the novel and it appears that his paternal grandfather was just like him. They actually address everything you brought up when Dane confronts his father (about the abuse). TL;DR His father is kind of obsessed with him vs the other kids because allegedly he is the most insane out of them all (even though one is on the FBI's Most Wanted list??). He says he visits him every few months to make sure he is following his orders, and feels lucky that Greyson clearly actively chooses to follow them and have a relationship with his parents. He implies that their youngest, the omega, and Chase, are the only ones who appear to feel normal emotions, and Chase cut them off ASAP and has only recently re-connected with his parents (likely due to having kids of his own). Their father is clearly distressed about the way Greyson treats Chase and knows the intimate details about the trauma he inflicted. I suspect the parents were just overwhelmed with so many kids with mental health issues (I am assuming they had them one after the other and didn't realize they would all be screwed up until they grew past toddler age). He says he basically taught Greyson to at least try and read the room and mimic emotions with his face. Part of them trying to get him to feel anything like remorse included locking him up. But he didn't seem to understand he should feel distressed, which just continuously freaks out his father until currents events. I understand now why they kept the youngest away from the others- because they were afraid he would be Chase 2.0. His father is legitimately afraid one of the kids might hurt their other parent so he has a rule that the omega parent cannot meet with any of the alpha kids alone. (Because specifically Greyson did hurt him as a kid. On purpose just to see what would happen.) The father just thinks he's just too far gone to ever feel normal emotions, but omega daddy still holds hope. I think their dad is actually a control freak and rightly so. He is constantly trying to keep his demon spawn in check and has a whole team of people dedicated to tracking them all who report to him directly when they do something out of character. So basically, the parents tried their best and are still actively parenting their grown ass kids. (At least the alpha is. The omega just seems like Geyson's twin mentally ngl)

Bottom line is he says they essentially feel blessed that Greyson actively chooses to listen to them and be relatively normal and not a damn serial killer. But his father is always on guard around him. I think he keeps him financially secure because Greyson likely willingly provides detailed explanations when asked and somehow understands his parents are trying to guide him down the right path. He's managed to treat his dog well since childhood I guess. One thing I noticed is he seems to act normal around his friends which is fascinating.
