Novel review: Manhwa is way better

I am really glad how quickly the manhwa goes through the story because holy cow, the story drags and drags for so long. Most of the story is so repetitive with the angst that the moments don’t feel impactful or emotional after the first maybe two times. The repeated beats of the so called conflict drags out, and it doesn’t help that the MC has no depth or critical thinking skills.

Everything just magically works out for him in his life after the ML sets up a golden spoon for him. MC is just perfect in every way based on how everyone sees him, and there’s just no real conflict overall. The way the novel describes films, dramas, and blockbusters and how they perform is just so surface level and unimaginative. The prose and imagery are basically nonexistent so you can’t even feel any luxury. Nothing gets resolved with the MCs past (mom or brother). There’s no depth with MLs past love life and there’s almost nothing that comes out of the Japanese actress Terajima.

Genuinely, how many times are there alcohol drinking party scenes. I should have counted because oh my god. I’m Asian, so trust me I know the drinking culture is real, but when the plot is so barebones, I feel like I’m reading 80% filler.
