Stories with dysfunctional families or step parents always hit too close to home for me.

Both my mother and my father have married or been with people who treated me like I wasn't needed, and at one point they've both told me I was getting in their way of their "happy marriage."

The moment Yuuji's mom brought home that new guy I burst into tears. Then I was filled with disgust the moment she said her new man didn't want a kid from a previous marriage. I get that she was hurt by his father walking out, but that is your child. You both brought him into this world. To purposely say something to hurt that child just goes to show that you only ever cared about yourself.

Luckily Yuuji has always had Kirato by his side. Even if they've had their ups and downs, he's been the only consistent presence in Yuuji's life.

God, I'm choking up just typing this out. Fuck his mom and dad. They deserve nothing.
