He showed a lot of development in all the preceding chapters. He softened towards the MC and gave him a lot of his time and attention generously and went out of his way to save him hurt. This plot turn is as cliched and non sensical and contradictory to the development as it gets.

Yeah it's called development. Not transformation. Development is slow. Development follows a gentle trajectory because humans don't change overnight either. But ML though is a bit a cranky, is fine with MC having a social life, overnight trips, friends and just general fun. From going to that to this is not only cognitively dissonant, but really.my main focus was on the cliched nature of the plot turn, the oft repeated trope that authors seem to think is romantic and not psychotic. Manhwa bl authors have a very fucked up understanding of romance and its conflicts
