People said MC betrayed the snake demon and at first I thought so too, but after reading up to ch11, I can't say for sure.. the snake demon knew everything, from what MC was like, what his purpose, to what he'd do. Wouldn't you say MC was tricked into helping the the reincarnation while also getting bound to the snake demon for 9 generations?
And honestly MC didn't even ask for the demon core. He just befriended the snake demon and I'm guessing he was hesitant about the whole thing too. That's why the demon handed him the core himself. He had a plan while MC was probably still in conflict with himself; whether to do what his family said was right or to do what he himself felt was right.
