The thing is that both Tae and Jae are connected with each other ( which was represented by a red string) this connection is what makes Jae so lucky, without that luck that his brother Tae gave him he won't survive bcz his body is so weak to the point where his survival up to this is a miracle, so basically Jae survived thanks to Tae and both him and his uncle head this fact from him until he discovered it, there's still more clue about their special bond in diaphonic Symphonia later on
