The way i see it is both of them were treated like shit by everyone, kasuya did not have it any better imo. i think of their relationship as something they built not only because they were interestend in the same thing, but also because they were seen both as freaks in that isolated countryside where nobody would support and actually hear them out, they’d only relate to each other while being “total opposites” (from the story we get that they are the same, but they seem to be always unaware of that). I also think it’s fictional and meant to be entertaining, weirdly funny for being an harada’s story, it’s one of the few where i actually think the rape is addressed the most, other maybe than yatamomo. Also the story seems pretty coherent to me from the reason i gave up above. If you read other stories like Color Recipe (it disturbed me so much) or Yoru no Asa, you’d get what i’m saying. Disclaiming that i do not condone rape in any case ever, it always bugs me and it’s always unfortunately pretty common in yaois.
Also want to add that i absolutely hate every character from the countryside and even kasuya’s past girlfriend for the reason you said. Botan and everyone else are all inconsiderate mfs.

I guess to properly understand some media, a certain level of maturity needs to be obtained - of course it's a different level for everyone, for me it's 25

I really didn't like how him being rape was made into a joke and everyone was belittling what happened to him, and expected that he just need to get over it, or that it's his fault or even that he should had enjoyed it since he likes being a bottom. But then I remembered that this is actually pretty realistic depiction of how victims of rape are treated. It doesn't matter that he is scared, uncomfortable and in pain since the offer's "feelings" and "futere" is often more important in the eyes of the law and the general public.
