Exactly, any girl would be like dude your inner thoughts show you fricken love him. But Kay is so guarded since he lost everything he knew as a kid so he is negative about things eventually leaving him.
Tbf I'd say baby trapping and stock Holm syndrome played a part in his feelings but atp they are genuine bc they have spent too much time together, it's sad to see his past relationships holding him back on his new one
