I think in most legal systems there is always a sentence for murder even if it’s involuntary manslaughter or murder in self-defense. It’s just the charges tend to be less severe than 1st degree premeditated murder and the severity of the charges can vary depending on the whether one was of sane mind, whether they were an adult or minor etc. Justice systems are weird and not as “fair” as they’re supposed to be. And since it’s SK, I don’t think there’s a way he would be able get acquitted for (self-defense) murder (as a non-chabeol) even if we were to suspend more disbelief for the sake of the story’s happiest possible ending.
Killing with the knife in self defense after being stabbed with said knife, shouldn't be punished by prison tho, he was a victim afterall
