I do agree, but I think this is the author's attempt to address how, while we see Gozu's past life all the time, we never have seen anything of the man he replaced when he was isekai'd, someone who had his own life and friends and story. So I can also see why the author would feel the need to write a plot point about this as to not leave any holes in the fabric of the story, even if it's not a common thing to be addressed in isekais. I do feel it a tad rushed at times tho, but mayhaps thats better than it being drawn out.
But I fear this is done so haphazardly. Like to a point where we're jumping from place to place tryna make a wide plot points fit tgt when it js doesn't work like that, esp bc it's been years since it's first serialization.
Author should've totally rethink this whole plotline again and clean it up before paneling it cus rn everything's a mess, like you can guess what's happening by the storytelling, well enough to shut ur brain and force the pieces tgt, but in the grand scheme of things, it's too much focus on characters who should've stayed as background characters, like we do not need to know all these bs and we actually should be addressing the main plotline with the original heroes and stuff
