varkas runs towards ayla to protect her b/c of this curse/oath that was placed on him to protect the twins (it completely ignores his own emotions). then thalia comes face to face with another monster and she gets BADLY BADLY injured. later on they realize thalia is missing and go out to find her, only for varkas to see her in a very terrible state.
