I think the premise of this is really unique using plant creatures and other magical ideas...but it squanders the potential. The whole mystery aspect feels very botched, from the motivations to the goal (which was thwarted long before happening) to the reason why. I think it needed more time to bake. Then on a character level it was kinda boring since MC's life is hinted at in earlier chapters and said to cause recurring trauma, but we don't learn what it is until MUCH later, and it's an afterthought, including a never-before-mentioned sister who he's still close with. Plus we get the unnecessary "we met before, but I'm not gonna tell you that" chapter.
I think it's a cool story, but I don't think it took advantage of it's storytelling and ideas as well as it could've. Also, no babies; we see them hypothetically, but in the end we only see their plant form. I wanna see how MC explains that to everyone when they do become human.
