My generation grew up experiencing strict discipline, both verbal and physical, whether at home or in school. Because of this, many of us grew up to be respectful and strong, without ending up suffering from depression or anxiety. This is not to diminish the severity of mental health issues, but rather to highlight how regular discipline shaped our character and resilience.
Nowadays, parents and teachers cannot even discipline their children or students without facing legal or administrative violations. As a result, instead of children fearing adults, the exact opposite is happening. When I use the word "fearing," I do not mean it in a negative or abusive sense; rather, it is about establishing healthy boundaries, recognizing authority, and earning fundamental respect.
