So good

This was very good. Alot of times when the MC has a shitty ex they cant let go of the motivations are obscure and never fleshed out. You just end up frustrated as to why they are still hung up. This author completely fleshed it out. From MC background with an abusive father, a mother that put her second, low self esteem, and being so young that even a little kindness moved her. I loved the scene where her aunt told her that thats not love, its waste water. After years of drinking, even wastewater will start tasting sweet. Telling her to end the cycle and not repeat her mother's mistakes. Its generational trauma and Its just so realistic! Its just much easier for a girl with MC background to end up in an abusive relationship(emotional abuse and manipulation) and it makes sense why she struggled to tear herself away. She didn't struggle to get out bc of him, she struggled bc of herself. Its even noted later that MC is fearful that even in her second relationship, she will once again wear herself down and put herself down. Thats MC personality.

The relationship between MC mom and MC was written so well. Alot of times some things these Moms in fiction do seem unforgivable and then the author wants to whitewash them and force a happy family. Not here. The mom was her own character in her own right who I could sympathize with outside the MC. When I heard she stayed trapped in that small store and town, even after her abuser died, bc even then she only felt safe there, I was so sad. At first I was worried she valued MC less bc she was a girl, but hearing the backstory made way more sense. Its like those parents with a child that needs more care vs less. Rather than saying its less or more love, mom's just instinctively pay more attention to the child that needs more care. MC brother near death experience made him fragile in mom eyes, so she naturally cared for him first. This was instinct. She didn't realize what she was doing to MC, and by the time she did it was too late. But she truly loved both her kids to highest degree and she never pressured MC to forgive her. Im glad the relationship improved.

The ML was so good omg! At forst I thought his love was inexplicable but the author really dedicated some chapters to explaining his love and it made sense. The ML is an artist(actor) and is naturally a sensitive and emotional person. He fell in love with her writing, then with her movies, then with her as a person, and then happened to run into her mom? At that point, its fate. Even ML thought so. I liked the idea that he was getting emotionally burnt out and feeling like he needed love to supplement his acting, so it makes even more sense he easily developed feelings for MC upon meeting her irl for the second time. I liked how he respected her, esp when he didn't have sex with her with mc mom and aunt in the house. "I would never put my crush in a difficult position" just wow. Also when the ex came and he feigned not knowing her, I liked that too. He just wanted MC to.make her own choice and didn't want to put her in a bad spot. So many MLs dont care that MCs have to deal with the negative consequences of their relationship being exposed and never put themselves into MC shoes. ML here is so considerate. I even liked how human he was, when he worried if she'd wait for him abroad and when he broke down abt the ring. He was patient, till he couldn't be anymore. I liked him alot.

The ex was so disgusting bruh. Genuinely wanted to vomit seeing him on page. There was no retribution for him tbh, besides the fact that he got played by his own first love who was getting married. Also lost MC his money maker. But im glad there wasn't too much focus on his regrets or stuff like that. Some random person would probably sympathize with him and I would be so angry. The author just let him be a POS from beginning to end and didn't justify his actions with a sad backstory and im grateful. Yes guys, some people are just self aware that they are handsome/pretty and can abuse others at will as long as that person has feelings for them. They dont regret what they did. There are genuinely ppl like that and this ex is one. He DOESNT regret it and he really isnt a good person. Thats enough.

Anyway 9/10.
