Tbh I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, i am not the type to put myself in MC shoes, im more about seeing both sides. In this case, MC did not take relationships that seriously and reiterated this to ML. He describes relationships like a passing bus. His first time falling fr is with ML. ML...cant read minds. ML was confessed to by a person that says relationships to him are like a passing bus and that he gets over ppl easily. ML values family and friendship. Even before the confession, he kept saying he valued MC as a friend and wanted to remain friends regardless. MC develops feelings, confesses. ML thinks MC doesn't hold feelings for long, even if they date, it won't last long and might even ruin the relationship. Its better to remain friends. He even thinks when MC is drunk and he gets turned on, that a little bit of lust is nothing in the face of their friendship and they can move past it(as said by MC himself, who said he would move past it). This is not him talking out his ass, this is MC words he said and this is what ML is taking a face value.
There are too many stories on here with fck buddies where ML falls first, develops feelings, and MC rejects them. Everybody in the comments of those stories say MC owes those MLs nothing, they had an agreement, and its not like the MC is a bad guy for not returning those feelings. ML is the same. He is not a bad guy for not returning feelings. The problem was MC promising to get iver those feelings and lying saying they could maintain the friendship. Should've just broken it off completely. In that case, ofc ML is still trying to get in touch(AFTER giving him time) and still trying to meet up bc MC never said hr couldn't. ML problem was that he didn't know how deep MC feelings for him were(even tho MC himself didn't treat feelings seriously before, why would ML think he is an exception for MC?). He rlly thought MC just needed time to get over him and that he wasn't particularly special to MC. This is why the crying scene is more than ML being an ass, its ML realizing both his own feelings and MCs feelings. Tbh, that is the real confession scene for ML. He finally feels the weight of MC feelings for him("you actually cant get over me? Im rlly that special to you?") and at the same time realizes his own emotions. Atp, MC and ML are on two seperate wavelengths.
Now that being said I dont blame MC either. Its easy for me to say these things as a third party. MC is in the situation and ofc cant see clearly. His emotions are real and the hurt he feels is real..him not wanting to be around ML after confessing and being rejected is valid. I felt he was very human. Unfortunately, the problem of an unemotional and emotional person is always the diff in thinking. Its hard for ML to empathize with MC, which is addressed by both of them. Its hard for MC to be as clear-cut as ML, which is also a problem. The solution is more communication, and for ML to pay more attention and be mindful of MC emotions.
The lack of chasing wasn't my problem. Idc about that if I feel the ML wasn't too bad. I didn't like how rushed it was. I would have preferred more chapters for them to address their diff personalities, rather than any chasing. The problem in their relationship was never about ML being a jerk, it was about two ppl with opposite personalities and thinking and how that will work. Will ML keep not understanding MC in the future? Will MC misunderstand ML actions bc of his strange thinking? Thats what I wanted to knoe. Hopefully the extras will include that. Id say 8/10(for the smut and realism).
