okay i hate this female lead. she's a coward and her cowardice led her to make decisions that cost the male lead's health. fine. i get that. what i don't get is why people are saying that they "fell inlove".
think about their individual history. hilda (let's just use that name) was so scared of the game to the point that she could not sleep. when she met adrian, her fears was still there. however, she noticed that things were "skightly different than what the game presented". she was in dangerous situations (from her perspective) but adrian always let her eacape. whatever she is feeling right now (am at chapter 68) is more akin to the suspension bridge effect, rather than "falling in love". it's not real. it's just chemicals associating themselves with symptoms similar to "falling in love".
now think about adrian/satan. he was mostly emotionally blank. things came to black and white. he had to fight two wars and the second war led him to where he is right now. hilda was a breath of fresh air. as explicitly said that she was different ie she was never playing right into his hands. this was his first time seeing somebody confront him and "seeing him for what he was". he is not "in love". he has opened his eyes to the fact that there is somebody out there who can handle him. it's just like when chicks follow the thing they see when they hatch. he is doing his best to make sure that hilda does not look away from him he said so that himself.
i don't care what everybody else says. this tory is simply the case of two broken people finding out that there are broken people.
