If he were convicted of assassination he would just accept his death, his father would do nothing, and his attendants would be killed too. And no one would do anything.
Something about the story is fun enough to keep reading but this is tiresome
the MC doesn't have much of a choice. he's stuck between a rock and a hard place.
if he acts out - they accuse him of trying to take the throne from his bro.
he life is at constant threat of assassination so he can't just leave, and they wouldn't let him leave anyway.
his father doesn't do a damn thing in part cause he doesn't get how serious this kids situation is but also he doesn't have as much authority as he should as a monarch because he too is being kept in check.
what is the MC supposed to do? he can't leave, can't misbehave, he can't even leave his own room without a guard. he doesn't have anyone in power backing him other than the king, but the king ain't much help.
i know we all want a super OP MC that can just beat anyone that opposes him senseless but this MC is just a powerless kid that only has his past life adult knowledge but he can't do anything with it except pretend to be an alchemy-obsessed dummy in his room.
I don't want a super OP MC. This story could be amazing precisely because he isn't. But he basically just takes it and gives up without even trying anything. Options are minimal, but there are options. At some point, you have to accept you're in a fight whether you like it or not.
How am I supposed to give a shit about someone who does absolutely nothing about what happens to him or the people around him? "Stay quiet" "just endure" he isn't living his life so why should I care?
This mentality pisses me off to no end. I want to like it but the MC is insufferable in his passivity
