I mean I won't like what Hunter might do but I'll understand it because frankly, I think he's pretty valid. I mean take it from his perspective, y'all can't really expect Hunter would be "normal" after wallowing in constant heartbreak, anger, and anxiety for an entire year due to being abandoned and "betrayed" by his most precious person in the whole world, to the point that he's neglecting his health, finances, and career that he worked hard for, and then only to end up seeing his most beloved person beaten bloody on the ground and on the verge of being gang-raped.

Y'all are overlooking what he's been through and are demanding saintly levels of patience and forgiveness from him ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

“his most beloved person beaten bloody on the ground and on the verge of being gang-raped.” after seeing THAT if he rapes him back next chapter, there’s no way of justifying it

Its lazy writing and nothing else, you see this pattern across manwha. Using SA as plot development to help with pacing and its common after conflicts. Most authors dont want to go through 10+ ch of them understanding each other like normal ppl so they use SA, close proximity, their history, to "resolve" matters. I promise u ppl being hurt and wallowing in self-whatever, doesn't turn u into a sex offender, call it what it is, lazy writing.

Ugh, here we go again with putting words in the other person's mouth. Sure, fine, that's what you already think anyway. Pointless of me to continue.

Lazy writing was my main point and u focus on one statement, this could've been resolved different ways, using SA to help with pacing is LAZY, period and that was my point, address that instead of address "normal people" Dont focus on miniscule shit.

Ummm, your main point is directly related to that statement though. You basically said "normal people" don't act that way. My point is that he's not behaving like a normal person to begin with. Someone who casually orders the castration of a group of men is already operating far outside normal standards. That doesn't automatically make the writing good, nor does it mean SA is the best way to resolve the conflict. But you can't dismiss that part as "minuscule" when it's part of the reasoning you're using to support your argument. And it's just that, considering all those things, this seems like a likely route, and that doesn't necessarily equate to lazy writing.

you comparing not raping your lover to being mother Teresa is very telling and i gotta say it's not a good look on you

"Its lazy writing and nothing else, you see this pattern across all manwha" I might have said normal people but i dont want to back track, does being mentally unstable deem it okay to SA people?? Like I said lazy writing when you use SA as conflict resolution/ a plot device because you dont want to consider alternatives (yearning, regret, etc) because it'll take longer. Im not saying "SA shouldn't exist in writing", BUT why use it as a conflict resolution which helps with pacing. Its lazy writing because they'll be in close proximity, the consent lines will blur, they have history, and more so it "resolves". Its a common BL trope. Its cheap and lazy writing. Im mainly calling out the authors way of going about, not the characters and how've they turned out.

I already see that aaron aint normal and that he's lost his shit. That's not what I'm debating. I'm talking about the authors choice to use SA to move the conflict forward instead of actually writing through the conflict. His mental state can explain why he would do some shit like that, but it doesnt automatically make it a good writing choice or mean that it wasnt being used as a convenient plot device. Im criticizing the execution, not trying to argue wheter hes normal or not.

It's called hyperbole sweetie, and you ignoring the whole point of my reply to ad hominem me, as well as the fact that you don't know about the controversies surrounding Teresa, is actually more telling of you.

But that's exactly why I brought up his characterization. I'm not saying his mental state makes SA okay or automatically makes it good writing. I'm saying that if the character has already been established as someone capable of extreme and irrational behavior, then this isn't necessarily a convenient choice pulled out of nowhere just to speedrun the conflict. You can think the execution is lazy, but calling it lazy solely because SA was used as the plot device doesn't automatically make it so.

you're assuming a lot here. Who doesn't know about mother teresa being a horrible person these days? funny you turned on your own example to try to argue with me this is not a philosophical or juridical debate so drop the formalities and see through to what my original point is. You can't complain about people being too harsh on aaron when he is raping his lover for no good reason. And no, Yujin choosing his agency and leaving him (even though he lied about it) is NOT a crime and doesn't give aaron the right to punish him fie whatever twisted reason. Grow a brain and face people's opinions when arguinf instead of trying to go around their words in search of a gotcha moment.

Swing on my dingaling September 14, 2026 8:09 pm

Like, my point is literally the pattern. The partner runs away, there's unresolved conflict, then the author uses SA to force them back into close proximity and suddenly theyre dealing with each other again. They have an established history, the consent lines get blurred, and the SA becomes the event that brings them back together or moves the relationship forward.

That's a common pattern I've seen in bl manhwa. I'm not saying every story using it is identical or that the character couldn't behave that way. I'm saying Ive seen authors repeatedly use SA as a shortcut for getting two characters back together when they could have used yearning, regret, confrontation, reconciliation, etc, Im not arguing about his mental state and what hes capable of, Im criticizing the author for using that route. What are you not understanding?

you're also out here trying to make it sound like raping someone is a somewhat normal response to emotional distress when in fact it is not. Him having suffered for a year does not make it okay or even justifiable in any type of way. That's why raping someone≠having a lot of patience. It's the bare minimum, you know? Can't believe i had to write paragraphs to get my point across when it was pretty obvious before you went on a tangent

It's pretty rich for you to say all that when your previous reply was nothing more than an ad hominem XD. You're also assuming I said something I didn't. I never said Aaron's actions were justified or that Yujin deserved it. That Teresa part was hyperbole about people expecting saintly behavior from someone who's clearly unstable, not a defense of rape. If you have to strip my statement of its context to argue against it, maybe you're the one who needs to “grow a brain” and read what's actually being said ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

you implied that people shouldn't be so hard on aaron because, and I QUOTE, you can't demand saintly levels of patience from someone in distress like he is. Now, that equates to mean that NOT doing what he is doing equals to that level of patience-> not raping your lover=having saintly levels of patience. Why do I have to remind you of your own words? My reply was directly addressing the fact that this train of thought is frankly disturbing. And I didn't strip your responses of anything, let alone its context, which is basically the whole issue with it. Like, if the context wasn't rape then I would've seen your opinion as agreeable, but well

Oh, I understand your point perfectly. I just don't agree that pointing out a common trope automatically proves that its use here is lazy writing. A trope being common doesn't inherently make every instance of it a lazy shortcut, especially when the characters and circumstances can make that particular development plausible.
