feels like the baby is more like a hurdle to that and added to make it a more romcom kind of conflict? that's how i see it at least
tbf pregnancy does often come unplanned irl, and it does disrupt everything else going on. so it's pretty realistic in a way.

i hope your guess is right, maybe i'm overthinking it bc of how usually pregnancies in these kinda stories are portrayed. I think its a easy scape to make a plot somehow, and some authors can really ruin a story w it by turning the plot predictable and boring... i really hope this story do not fall into this and that it use this arch to keep being disruptive and exciting as it is being so far. The MC straight up telling his father abt the pregnancy made me optimistic that maybe the author is cooking something good
yeah, i thought about this too, but I came to the conclusion that it wasn't strictly necessary (and maybe not even fully intentional) to be this realistic about an unpredictable pregnancy. i don't really get the feeling the author was going for that here. being an absolute a**, my critique is that this is an easy plot device that could ruin the story at this point by making it predictable and boring, just like so many others. ihope I'm wrong, because i love how creative and funny the story is. not to mention how well written the MC is... it would be so easy for things to become heteronormative and dull if everything starts revolving around the pregnancy ultimately ruining a great character by making him predictable
to add to @itsonfire comments: yeah i kinda agree it feels like an unnecessary plot device to introduce conflict rather than being true to life. i think it would've been better narrative wish if we actually went to a flashback with the og MC to understand his intentions on sabotaging the other guy or going into the experiment that changed their body this much? just to understand what's going on. and then maybe after that we have the pregnancy surprise.
Idk, as some are saying in the comments, I also would like to read a story where having children its not portrayed as destiny and the characters actually choose to not have it for once.
BUT, i think the real problem here is that pregnancy at this point at this specific story doesn't seems to fit somehow, it kinda breakes the vibe that was being built. I could see them having a baby later, but now? It seems forced and loses the appeal... we were enjoying the craziness of the MC, but now feels like the narrative is going to focus only on the pregnancy, maybe he will even be more "tamed" and abide by the "omega behavior" because of it... idk, i'm just rambling rn
