i like how this is a sort of commentary on esper-guide stories where government bodies put it on themselves to pair up esper-guides based on some "compatibility" metrics that arent elaborated to us (or the characters within the narratives), bcs if its based on "biological response/compatibility" then what of the espers/guides that dont personally click with the person they're matched with? within an idealized esper-guide universe, its nice to think of governments who also prioritize esper-guides personal need/comfort and how personal relationship (without force/state ordered match-ups) can help in-field success rates. and in this idealized world, governments would also give insurance or resources for agents/pairs that consists of normal civilians instead of separating people. so gitae being a civilian is such a fun touch, and the other black haired guy who is an esper/guide (supposedly working under a gov body) hatinh gitae, is a cherry on top
