i like how this is a sort of commentary on esper-guide stories where government bodies put it on themselves to pair up esper-guides based on some "compatibility" metrics that arent elaborated to us (or the characters within the narratives), bcs if its based on "biological response/compatibility" then what of the espers/guides that dont personally click with the person they're matched with? within an idealized esper-guide universe, its nice to think of governments who also prioritize esper-guides personal need/comfort and how personal relationship (without force/state ordered match-ups) can help in-field success rates. and in this idealized world, governments would also give insurance or resources for agents/pairs that consists of normal civilians instead of separating people. so gitae being a civilian is such a fun touch, and the other black haired guy who is an esper/guide (supposedly working under a gov body) hatinh gitae, is a cherry on top
"what the hell am i thinking" after he thought ideum as his. and "you're the worst, kwon jaeyi" he says to himself. i hope thats him reflecting and being true to himself. but im not gonna hope, and try to be realistic. bcs jaeyi and jiseong's story is that 1 brother isnt living true to himself by stealing the other's life, and 1 brother isnt living true to himself bcs he's too traumatized to have something to call his own. so jaeyi has overcome that before being ideums bf, bcs if not then hed only "claim" ideum as if he is in a race with jiseong. god i hate/love this siblings dynamic bcs it shows a reality I myself could be living in rn if i hadnt stepped back from being competitive with my sister.
