That sounds ridiculous,like I know it’s yaoi but it’s genuinely so ridiculous? Not every ending In the story is supposed to be "yaoi" even by forcing it
he hid the body of your beloved wife but instead of killing him or Atleast give him appropriate punishment,you kiss him? Apparently to keep him alive so he can feel guilt dude the author could’ve done a better job at trying to make them work as a couple

It was explained in the novel side stories that the emperor never really loved the empress(nor did the empress love the emperor) he loved the duke. Basically the emperor was always yearning for the duke however due to their heteronormative society the emperor interpated those feelings of wanting to be close friends. After getting together with the empress the duke cuts off their relationship and the emperor is hurt still wanting to be " close friends" but the duke rejects his offer and this caused the emperor to feel betrayed by the duke and fueld his hatred. He mostly wants the empress body back just to give her justice and peace from all the times the duke tormented her.

I don’t think that Daphne was evil, she’s just trying to go back to her world using any means possible so why do ppl claim she’s "evil"

So in her own story Richard is the villain and in his story she’s the villain
Cailus long let go of her after watching her plunge into madness, he knew the Daphne he loves no longer exists ,it’s only Richard the kept holding onto her meanwhile she longed to be let go of this world,her story kind of reminds me of "resetting lady" where the fl started killing ppl after going mad from helplessness of knowing no matter what she does she’ll keep regressing over and over so I don’t think she’s evil
No on is ,if anything the world they’re living in is the true villain
