Yep, I do like the short form way this was presented cuz it does feel like theres no redemption for either of them, very likely that his trauma manifested into his desires like that and is basically projecting them onto the thief guy. I highly doubt this guy even went to therapy considering the neglect from authorities and the old fashioned grandma
And it even seems like he was trying to be normal right up til then, too… his only family being hospitalized and then he has to come home to find an intruder? people have had psychotic breaks for much less,,,
Thats one way to deal with the robber. Honestly, punishing someone with rape is definitely horrible. I don’t think its an equivalent punishment unless if the perpetrator was a rapist. But, you also can’t like defend the guy because he may as well HAVE killed the grandma if she was there. There’s no telling. And for what it is, the story had a good execution and didn’t turn it in to a “wait maybe he isnt so bad even tho he tortured and raped me.” it stuck to its purpose.
And I can’t even help but feel bad for the guy who got raped as a kid, IN FRONT of his mothers corpse. It’s no wonder his psyche went off the rails I mean that is such a traumatic event for a child. Then to be ignored by those who saved you would really damage your perception of whats right and wrong.
