We're really 9 chapters in , let's give these characters some grace and wait how things play out . I feel like it's very human to say one thing but then do the other as much as not acknowledging your own behaviour so you switch to someone else .
We know so little about these guys , expecting character growth so soon is not ideal when we're working with more complexe characters. I find them interesting, this is the type of story we're even if things don't go the way you want it's supposed to entertain you rather than irritate you hhhhhh .
I mean...we just got one character calling out the other for their poor behavior. If it's time for one person to have character growth, another can as well. And it's very unbalanced; Salvo needs Ben in order to navigate around, as well as learning the language to write his book. He needs Ben a lot more than Ben needs him, but the narrative is kinda just like "oh, Salvo did a terrible thing" while Ben's stuff is shown very casually and dismissive. I hope we get development soon, or at least acknowledgement, because I'm not seeing anything where Ben acknowledges he's in the wrong; he just goes into the headspace of "do I have anyone on my side" when it was his fault to begin with on how he uses people.
I don't think character growth is going to happen 9 chapters in even if they given an opening , because these things take time , and honestly everything your pointing out is what makes the story interesting imo , I like how contradicting they are . Ben is childish but is insecure about it being called out on it, not realizing him trying to act grown up is actually doing the opposite of what he wants . And with stories like this , we might never get to closure we want to, so I'm fr not gonna dwell to much on it and hope that a good ending is in store for these guys hhhhh

This is peak !! I like these characters personalities, their flaws and everything fr. I'm exited to see what more this story has in store for us
