Many countries allow marriages between distant cousins. Obviously, others do it with close cousins, either to keep assets and money within the family or because of the mistake of having fallen in love with their cousins because they did not see them with the prohibition of "they carry the same blood"
Years ago I read a webtoon; I don't remember what country the author was from nor the title of the webtoon but it definitely wasn't Chinese, Japanese or Korean. There were about 3 o 4 couples: a straight couple, gay couple and a het- bi couple. There was a girl and a boy who were raised by the same lady, so they treated each other like cousins even though they weren't. Over time, the boy turned out to be "gay" and flirted with many men while the girl was a model, she became pregnant by a jerk who left her as soon as he found out she was expecting his child... Her cousin decided to take care of her and her son, which made her wonder why he would sacrifice so much for her, given that he was gay to which he revealed that he is bi and had always been in love with her but he preferred to distract himself and forget by sleeping with inexperienced gay men.
