Both suffered bullying and mistreatment in their "homes," although Yuwon had a more peaceful time at home, unlike Duhoon who had to put up with his idiot older brother. When I read about Duhoon's past as a child I couldn't help but cry. He's been through so much that he clung to the only person he believes is his destiny (happiness).
there's another thing to consider. Yuwon tends to diminish, forget and misplace traumatic memories subconsciously so he can 'be normal' bc all he ever cared about was to be a normal person who didn't stick out like a sore thumb and get bullied for it. And that made him a prime target for bullies all his life, it's an endless cycle unless he breaks it. Duhoon, on the other hand, is obsessed with following his destiny, but he doesn't need to romanticize the steps he took to get to his destiny. And so, his memories are pretty accurate in terms of timeline and events, but he tends to dismiss or diminish traumatic events bc they're just run-of-the-mill or uninteresting to him.
So Yuwon could very well have been abused at the care facility more than we are led to believe by his flashbacks, and that may end up being crucial to the plot's trajectory
Very true, I used to trust Yuwon's point of view and memories 100% but seeing Duhoon's past makes everything more sense.I feel that the moment we find out "if Duhoon did something to his bullies" and the identity of his father, we'll be close to the end. Both are victims of irresponsible adults lacking empathy and love; they have tried to survive in the quietest and least problematic way possible but even that has not been enough. Personally, I can't hate either of them or blame them entirely, I hope they can go to therapy and be happy.
Yes, I agree. The best case scenario for them would be for them to get therapy and resolve their traumas and then starting over with a clean slate. There is so much baggage and pain they're holding in themselves rn and it's obviously affecting them both terribly but, like you said, they're just people who have been seriously failed by every mechanism meant to protect them and teach them right from wrong.
Trying to avoid spoilers--
I honestly thought it would have a predictable ending, as is usually the case with most stories about yanderes or obsessive ml but it surprised me. I liked the development of the three main characters.
Spoiler
I think what happened between Yul/Yuri and Sian is what should happen in cases of extreme harassment when they are an empathetic victim who wants to move forward, I loved the last words she said to him because it's clear that she's finally free from a past that tormented her and that she can be happy with someone who truly loves her, in a healthy way.
In the end, Yul matured and reflected on his actions. I liked his remorse because many times people who act the same way never recognize that they are the ones who made the mistake and blame others for their own actions. I believe that if something like this happens irl the victims are not obligated to forgive but sometimes they do so not to appease their perpetrator but for their own peace of mind.
