Like, author could copy-paste the main couple to create a side one and say the mother problem is solved because she now has a pretty lesbian with her and suddenly it was all because she was going after m*n.

Saying this to be a negative nancy but I do NOT want the author to pull a “omg she’s changed” with the mom and make her fall for the lesbian director and suddenly mom is bi and healed. I think this would be the easy way out for her (and maybe the spicier option would be that the work bestie gets with the director)
