I'd like to think there was some intention behind it since his trauma from childhood is really doing a number on how he's coping with this current situation of his own making. Perhaps the author wanted to incorporate that sense of helplessness from when he was a kid and altered the facade to match the scared child he likely is still. Or I'm reaching, who knows.
Yeah I get why it's nice for how we interpret the thoughts of the characters but from a purely aesthetic pov I hate it especially since they're having sex now
I hate how the art style changed and the top looks more like a kid now than in season 2 it's not his personality it's really the eyes I can't (・_・;)
