Well as the story progresses you'll know he really loved Chase, it's a spoiler but he literally used himself as a lab rat to ease Chase's pain though he did intercepted it in a wrong way, nd no one ever understood him so u see he always felt that's how things were done but he's so very much pitful, not even his parents or anyone understood him nd he never had a partner so Dane will be the one u see to change him.
