obviously id prefer without it unless it “had to go that way” for the progression of the story (if the writing is good) but youre right. i dont know what to call this but what i noticed is korean bl authors tend to lean to the rape fantasy alot, japanese authors to hardcore sex, and chinese (i dont consume alot of cn bl) but from what i heard from a friend its also quite hardcore(?) they love the agegap thing or mortal x human. atp im just desensitized w rapeslop and just scroll pass it or read it w a straight face. it does get to a point though zzz

It might be a matter of Korean readers vs the rest of the world. I'm assuming the authors are writing with the Korean audience in mind first. As long as Koreans eat it up, buy the chapters, the physical volumes and the merch, go to events, etc., put money into their pockets, the random SA won't stop anytime soon, 'cause it's a formula that unfortunately works.
Meanwhile most international readers hate that stuff, but I'm not sure how much the authors and publishers care, especially if the work is popular in the home country and they're getting rich enough locally.

A bit weird question but to BL readers, do you actually prefer rape and/or dubcon sex scenes to explicitly consensual ones? It seems like authors (especially korean) can't last 10 chapters without adding questionable sex scenes and i'm curious if that's genuinely because people like rapeslop more, or if the publishers are too outdated.
