Alright, I am going to lose it. Before the emperor learned the FL was abused, she was just the daughter of a vile woman. That plus a crime she didn't commit was enough to send a child to be exiled in Siberia. But now that they know she was abused, that somehow makes her more innocent than before??? Literally WHAT?! Oh my lord. She mentions the emperor being a good dude because he would send her supplies. HE SENT YOU THERE! She spends many years alone in an ice fortress to the point where she kills herself but he's a good dude because he sent me a couple supplies so I didn't die a different way. That is maddening. He sent an innocent child to their death. No. The emperor isn't a good dude. I get what her mother did was despicable but to blame her child, your own sister, and force her to survive in a harsh environment. Author is definitely tripping.
This logic is perpetuated by the emperor's half-brother. He meets her and immediately condemns her for because of her mother. It is not until the emperor tells him that she was abused, so that somehow makes her more innocent than before. Just asinine logic.
I just started this but already have a huge gripe. The current emperor helping her now is also the same one that sentenced her to exile for the crime she didn't commit. It seems like her harbors no resentment towards the emperor. I get the timeline is different but I would at least have been angry at the emperor (her own brother) for essentially signing her death warrant. I am super angry for her.
