you got to think of it from the point of its the end of the world and the people aren’t strong enough (mentally or physically) to take care on there own (they were terrified going against the ml i can’t imagine they happen upon the monsters beyond the town), do we hate the hounds….yes but they keep them alive and also are the ones to leave in search of food and supplies and sadly their rules is whats keeping them alive all supplies and food is limited for example the kid that got a cold with food and rest he would have been better in a few days honestly meds should be saved for those who are leaving the town (just in case they get injured)
Conclusion: the hounds and rules keep them alive and if they are gone along with the ml that town won’t survive long
