I understand what Enma is trying to say, but he's still very victim blamey in how he packages the well intended need for empowerment of omegas (it reminds me of the 4B movement and the mass protest in Island). By putting the blame on omegas willing to birth children and to sleep with alphas, he's disregarding the patriarchy he himself mentioned, and how people are indoctrinated into it. Omegas are to be submissive, to find fulfillment in child bearing, and to conform to agreeableness, softness, and sexual access for alphas as per their gender role, so blaming them for fulfilling their role as exactly intended by the system (that profits from omega care, unpaid labor and creation of more work force) when society puts certain expectations on them is unfair. I also find the creation of an artificial womb is nothing but the treatment of a symptom, not getting at the core of a systemic, societal, gender issue as a whole - how omegas and their sexuality are viewed, brought up and treated in a sexist society built on a system benefitting from exploiting and oppressing them as the gender who births, and thus has to be controlled, to be managed as an important human recourse (while having the power to continue or end generations, as Enma correctly pointed out, which is also precisely why there's more reason for the non birthing group to control them). The omega body will still be repressed , seen as lesser and weaker, and access to it will be seen as dictated by the alpha and their sexuality when systemic programming doesn't change; omegas will still have heats and experience discrimination and hardship because, again, medicine doesn't invest enough in research for better suppressants to make the experience more bearable and for omegas to be able to partake in life without oozing pheromones and experiencing rape culture every day. All of this won't be changed by an artificial womb, I think. It would absolutely make the reproductive experience for omegas much easier and less stressful both for the body and soul, it would prevent deaths and complications from pregnancies and births, but it won't be what instills true change. I can imagine, though, that it will create more class division as in a profit driven system, aka capitalism, it won't be made accessible to many omegas who might want to have children this way. There will be the omegas who can afford the artificial surrogates so to speak, and the omegas who can't. This, too, does not lead to more equality for omegas as, again, it doesn't treat the root cause (capitalism+patriarchy; systems that generate the maximum profit through maximum extraction, omegas being extracted of their fertility, emotional and care labor, etc.)
I do appreciate the mention of the horrible, humiliating, anti-womb haver experience of birthing in the obstetrician world that, again, systemically mistreats people who birth. It's yet another admission to how little regard there is for the anatomy, dignity and care for the birthing person. In real life, we all know about the dark past of gynecology and obstetrics as well, from the worst possible misogyny to racism and pure, torturous violence.
Oh and now I just want to appreciate Arisaka. His perspective on the omega reality was truly on point. He's also a mood. Probably my favorite character atp. I wanna see him fuck his alpha in the ass ngl.
