It's because of the long speech in the middle. It really throws you off when you have 5 panels of speech at a high stakes situation. It makes the scene draggy and off.
In good story telling, you tell these things as the action is going. You don't stop everyone from moving just so you can give a 5 minute long speech. And suddenly he decides to collapse conveniently when he's done with his speech? Lol
I really like this story but that was weird. It felt rushed and it really threw me off because the entire story up until now has been excellent.
So this was a little "jump scar" or "jarring"
