Apparently they get better in diasim from what I've heard but the main story ends on a bitter note
From what I got reading the novel, I think Taeui basically sacrifices himself by the end of the story because he views Ilay as a beast that needs someone to keep him human, and the only person who can do it is Taeui, I mean, I never quite understood how he got to love him but he didn't hate him even when he pushed himself on Taeui. I think it's the fact Ilay is handsome, plus they had some chemistry at the very beginning of the story and when they became intimate Taeui saw how much Ilay cared for him so it kinda made him like him back, but the point that made him stay with Ilay was that he made sacrificed his all when he went after Taeui when he was kidnapped by that rich dude, so he knew Ilay actually cared the most for him and because Xinlu threatened Taeui to come with him and Taeui had to leaving Ilay confused and heartbroken, Taeui felt regretful and decided to return to Ilay despite the notion he might regret returning to this beast (and well, he kinda did after Ilay did what he did this last chapter), but yeah, very nonsensical he actually stayed with Ilay.
Just think you're going to have sex with xenomorph. This is realistically portrayal being relationship with an alien

How do you justify loving Ilay after this? I'm talking about Taeui. After all the rape, they had some resemblance of peaceful intimacy (still not consensual btw because if Ilay wants to have sex, Tae has no other choice but to let him do it) and now it's back to death threats and violent rape.
