Y’all.. I don’t know if it’s because people are more used to the usual tropes or if they’re new gens, but I feel like we might be nitpicking this story a little too much and missing the bigger picture.
I’ve skimmed through a lot of the comments and saw that there was a lot of discussion surrounding the story. Some of the comments I think are losing the ability to read complex literature. This is, imo, the FARTHEST thing from slop.
I genuinely think it’s really good. It’s complex and intense. The characters aren’t perfect, the story is not perfect, and tbh, I think that’s what makes them interesting. They’re human, which means they are imperfect. This applies to all the characters too, even our MC. I found everything to be realistic in a sense too for their situation, which made it all the better.
The story isn’t strait laced and cut perfectly, there’s more nuance, depth and realism I think compared to some stories we will see today. You really have to think about what you’re reading and not take it at face value.
It kind of feels like the entire plot is intense and angsty and wrapped up in a warm soft blanket. I felt like that there’s so much going on underneath everything, and I thought that this is what sets the story apart from many other stories.
For anyone thinking about reading it, I’d honestly say read it for yourself and form your own opinion. Everyone seems to take something different from the story, so I wouldn’t let the comments decide how you feel about it before you’ve even read it. Just dive in and hold on for the ride.
Personally, I just think it’s a really beautiful, intense story that works perfectly for the time and setting it was written for. 100% a strong 10/10 for me. (づ￣ ³￣)づ
