I see a lot of people saying that the second(?) part of the story has lost its charm, but honestly it's the opposite for me. I think got better tbh. And one of the biggest reasons is because the 2nd part shows us how our main protagonists are all flawed and layered characters.
Even reirin, in all her mary sue-ness, has her own fair share of flaws. They show her hesitating, having doubts, and do a lot of questionable choices and actions. She has fears about her poor health, and we get to see her weariness of it too. A lot of the attitude and personality of hers we see stems from all that.
I think one of her biggest flaws is her lack of self-awareness of how her intense care and kindness might look like to others. Especially to someone like keigetsu. Same thing for her recklessness.
As for our keigetsu, i think she's on her way to have character development. This is one of those stories where you need to wait after all, so i hope people have more patience for what's to come.
Of course, she has a lot to account for. Although i can understand where she's coming from, her background and experiences does not justify some of the things she's done. And i think keigetsu being the nervous, petty, insecure wreck that she currently is, is pretty realistic even if she has sort of changed compared to what she was from the start of the story. Keigetsu has a lot of things to heal from after all. She needs to deal with that first if she wants to improve.
Although i do wish that the story will focus more on her too. Maybe we'll see that in the next volume!
