Heejae expects Garam to love and accept him unconditionally, because that is what Garam has always done. Heejae has become accustomed to Garam accepting his intolerable behavior. He expects Garam to shower him with sweet words that verify Garam’s love for him, all while Heejae withholds a verbal confirmation of his affection from the person he should be cherishing. It’s selfishness. Yes, Heejae gives to Garam in other ways; by helping him with his career and trying to give him the best gifts, lifestyle, etc. But he is selfish when it comes to verbalizing any regret for his actions, and he is selfishly refusing to verbally declare his love. Garam gave him so many chances to apologize, and to say “I love you”. Leaving was really the only way Garam could protect himself from further sorrow. He even destroyed the piano, which is so out of character for him. I hope he can heal from the heartbreak.
