frrr. at least in the novel yuri’s thoughts make it more bearable. they add sentences like “though it wouldn’t exactly be right to say that the young xinlu was his first love, since yuri hadn’t felt any love towards him at the time”, but still it’s icky
In the novel it was handled much better I think yuri didn’t harbour any romantic or sexual feelings towards Xinlu so the meaning here is like when someone falls in love with a piece of art upon seeing it for the first time. I hope i’m making sense

his love was described as just thinking xinlu was beautiful. kinda like thinking a kid you see as being adorable. it’s been debunked a lot that he ever saw kid xinlu as anything w romantic or sexual interest. i think the manhwa portrays it deeper than it really was and makes it read romantic-coded

i hate how they made yuri say that his first love was xinlu back then it is weird to say that about a child and ik that yuri doesn't have lustful though about him back then but it's still annoying
