Angst cliffhanger aside, I have read many BLs but it’s not often that it feels like a queer story. Do you know what I mean?
Most BLs are very focused on the couple and their social circle, which of course it makes a lot sense. But this manhwa is one of the few that felt like there is a bigger world around the couple. Thus it focuses on the conversations of what other same-sex/queer couples experience.
The arc where they go to Thailand including the scene of the drag queen/king club had me in tears. It was absolutely beautiful and powerful. Plus the aunt’s backstory in her youth was amazingly written.
Also of course the author is attracted to age gap mlm but I really appreciate that it’s not just the smut. There is purposeful storytelling seeing two adults in love at different stages of life. Specific vulnerabilities to overcome and strengths they can pass onto each other. I know there is great fear in the cliffhanger, but I have faith in the storytelling. I’m sure I will cry like I did already but it won’t be just an unnecessary miscommunication arc just to drag it out. I look forward to how the characters are going to develop.
